Our Learning Spaces

*Rooms may vary in ages as children move through on need not age

Rāpeti Room

Rāpeti is our space for the youngest members of our whānau, aged from 3 to 24 months. The upper age varies as children transition to the ‘Hipi Room’ on a readiness basis rather than an age basis. We build strong relationships and take special care of the infants and new parents as they both make the transition. Our kaiako (teachers) focus on creating a caring and nurturing environment.

Hipi Room

The Hipi Room is home to our children aged from around 2 to 3.5 years. These children keep us very busy! We foster curiosity and wonder with our toddlers. We provide open-ended resources like cones, stones, sticks, balls etc that offer possibilities to explore, manipulate and problem-solve. Our kaiako (teachers) are passionate and excited to spend time with your tamariki.

Kurī Room

Kurī is the home to our oldest children at The Learning Barn, roughly 3.5 to school age. Theses are our “big kids” who continue to further develop learning through play and exploration. Our kaiako (teachers) focus on developing children’s independence. As we want our tamariki to leave our centre as confident and competent learners ready for their next journey through school.
